Split ticketing might sound complicated, but with TrainSplit, it’s simple, fast, and easy. Our advanced technology breaks your journey into smaller, cheaper tickets without changing your travel plans.
A single "through" Off-Peak Return ticket (i.e. one ticket for the whole journey) between Birmingham and Leeds costs ÂŁ79.20 (Nov 2024).
By splitting at Derby and Meadowhall, you can travel on exactly the same trains for just £51.80. That’s a saving of £27.40! If you use a railcard or there are more of you travelling, you have the potential to save even more.
- What's the catch?

These tickets are valid on exactly the same trains as the single ticket and you don't have to get off the train where you change from one ticket to another - but don't worry, we'll take care of this automatically for your selected journey so you don't need to think about it.
In our example here, your train would have to stop at Derby and Meadowhall. If it didn't, your tickets wouldn't be valid on that train.
- What's in it for TrainSplit?

When we find you a saving using our split ticketing technology, we charge you a small percentage of that saving. This is our “share of saving fee”. This fee is up to 15% of the saving we find for you.
We only charge you if we're able to find you a saving by splitting tickets - so if we don't find you a saving, you don't pay us a penny more than you would have paid buying from a conventional online retailer (such as a train operating company), or a ticket office.
